The Future of Podcasting

The Podcast Movement is growing fast... very fast. According to a study carried out by Edison Research, over 50% of the U.S. population over the age of 12 have listened to a podcast at least once.[1] The same study also revealed that one-third of those reported individuals listened to a podcast in the last 30 days. This represents a remarkable 90 million monthly listeners – and counting.

As podcasts continue to transform the audio content and media landscapes, big companies are finally starting to take note. What is clear is that a growing listener base means big bucks, and companies are making the appropriate maneuvers to ensure they are in a position to capitalize on an increasing global appetite for podcasting.

So What’s Next?

The biggest podcaster in the world recently touted the important of video podcasting in the podcast industry. As did a recent Fox Business Network Report, citing that video podcasting is "the next step, the next evolution of podcasting," and that the podcast industry is forecast to grow 5-10 billion dollars in the next 5-7 years.
